Robert Weeks
PADI OWSI 26627
Bob's 45 year love of Scuba Diving started in high school. When attending college at UCSD, Bob became involved with the UCSD Scuba Club, the Sea Deucers, and took all of the scuba classes offered. This progression lead to taking the Dive Master course and a couple years later, continuing with the Instructor program.
In his 35 years of teaching and 45 years of diving, Bob has certified over 570 students and has over 1875 logged dives.
Minoring in photography at UC San Diego, Bob took this passion for photography underwater.
Shooting mainly with a manual Nikonos III, Bob was able to capture images around the world (WeeksPhoto.net)
While active in the SDUPS (San Diego Underwater Photographic Society), Bob was able to learn from some of prominent San Diego photographers.
Competing in underwater photograph competitions in San Diego and Monterey, Bob compiled numerous awards, including a Best of Show.
The scuba diving adventure has provided the opportunity to dive in seven foreign countries. This started with dive trips into Baja California with the Sea Duecers and then with a group of friends. We would explore areas as close as the pinnacles off of Ensenada to more remote locations near Loreto.
Tropical trips have included diving in Okinawa while on vacation during a 3 month spent working in Japan. This location provided clear warm waters and Sea Snakes on almost every dive.
A week diving in Bahamas with Suzanne was the wettest we have had. Not for being in the water, but for the 15+ inches of rain that fell the week.
Warmer weather was experienced in Fiji were I proposed to Suzanne while underwater (read more of the engagement). This was our favorite trip. Staying at the world famous Namale Resort.
Kungkungan Bay Resort in Indonesia is known for its "muck diving". This location had a rich abundance and variety of marine life. Dozens of nudibranchs variety's, most of the Lion Fish species. One twilight/night dive we experienced Mandarin Fish.
Living the motto of "Eat, Sleep & Dive", I made 35 dives in a week aboard the Belize Aggressor. This was our first live-a-board experience. What an amazing way to dive!
Our last big trip was to Papua New Guinea. Diving at the Tawalii Resort, we experienced warm, clear waters filled with colorful sea life. We followed the week of diving in the highlands to experience the Sing Sing Festival.
Bob & Suzanne were married in 1995 with a ceremony overlooking the ocean in La Jolla.
